Threats across U.S. put Seattle-area Jewish leaders on ‘high alert’

Tuesday, February 28th, 2017:

The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle is on “high alert” after bomb threats directed at synagogues and Jewish schools and centers in at least 12 states. Locally, police are investigating graffiti in Ballard and a phone threat Monday night to a Mercer Island community center. Removal of longstanding football coaches a troubling trend – Sacramento Bee (blog)

It happened to Norm Ryan earlier this month. He was summoned to the principal’s office at Casa Roble High School, where he had coached football and taught U.S. history for 34 years. Expecting to offer updates on the football team’s progress during its winter program, Ryan instead was dismissed as head coach, a position he held for 14 seasons.
