Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton led Republican nominee Donald Trump by 7 points in a new national poll published Friday by McClatchey.
Clinton earned 48 percent, edging closer to the 50 percent mark in the national poll, while Trump earned 41 percent. The four-way race that included Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein reduced Clinton’s numbers to 45 percent, and Trump’s to 39 percent. Stein earned 4 percent and Johnson earned 10 percent.
Likely voters felt that Clinton would do a better job of handling a terrorist threat, with 52 percent reporting she would be better at the job. Fifty-one percent of likely voters preferred the Democratic nominee’s immigration plan, compared to 41 percent who supported the Trump immigration plan.
